“Elusive Spanish artist Pejac travels the
world creating street interventions, often integrating natural elements into
man-made structures through a combination of stenciling and trompe l’oeil
painting. His most recent projects have brought him to New York City for the
first time, where he has created two arboreal artworks in Bushwick and
Chinatown.”
Etienne, a 24 year old from France working on a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics, saw the work of Wavegrower and was inspired: He wanted to do the same kind of thing. He succeeded. Now you see his gifs all over Tumblr, and for good reason. Sure they are generative and just based on math, but they are also extremely seductive experiences for a viewer because he has a great sense of motion and design - and he makes great vortices. Why just black and white? Again, being inspired by Wavegrower, he said about other colors ‘I feel like it adds nothing, it is unnecessary’. I have to agree. His gifs are perfect for now, as is.

My paintings or renders are an escape from the world which is full of terror and sad realities. I have a special place for Purple and Blue as it helps me to seek calmness around me. I love working with silhouettes cause sometimes you can show more with fewer details. Most of the paintings are without references as I try to translate my thoughts into art.
